Dr Ash Cox spent 13 years in the British Army earning the right to wear the coveted Green Beret and British Military Parachute Wings. In the later stages of his military career, he went on to qualify as an exercise rehabilitation instructor (ERI) and refined his practice working as an ERI attached to Headley Court, The Special Boat Service, The Gurkhas, Commando Forces and The Parachute Regiment.
Dr Cox has a history working within elite sport at a national and international level across weightlifting, cycling, professional football and boxing to name a few. After helping redesign the rehabilitation and treatment pathway for the British Army, Dr Cox pursued a PhD in sports, exercise, and health sciences.
Dr Cox has published as lead author in leading international journals and regularly presents his work at global conferences. His work is largely focused on musculoskeletal health and has featured in government policy papers and rapid evidence reviews.
Dr Cox is still currently a lead researcher at a world leading university meaning that Plug-In Rehab can stay at the very forefront of the medical sector. Dr Ash Cox oversees all of our clinical functions and ensures we are practicing within current guidelines and evidence.
Gary spent 14 years in the British Army and has worked in athlete development, sport and fitness since 2009. His final role within the Army was leading a clinical team at Headley Court as a senior exercise rehabilitation instructor where he led the Lower Limbs team.
Gary has worked within the life sciences and medical sector since leaving the military effecting change at government level when it comes to the patient voice. A co-author on a number of peer reviewed publications Gary has been a leading voice in the development of medical technologies not only in the UK but at an international level.
Gary comes from an elite sporting background with incredible accolades that include a Guinness World Record, time spent as a GB triathlete, a Hyrox world championship qualifier and multiple wins in Ironman events and running races across Europe. He has held various coaching roles within professional sport including football, UK Athletics and British Triathlon.
Gary leads the exercise rehabilitation function of Plug-In Rehab.
Jess has a BSc in sports therapy and rehabilitation, she started her career within professional football working as the lead sports therapist at a championship football club. After 5 years in professional football working with elite athletes Jess moved over to lead some of the rehabilitation pathways within the military.
She has worked for the military for 7 years in both a clinical capacity and also mentoring the next generation of exercise rehabilitation instructors. She has worked across the tri-service spectrum, starting her military career in primary care rehabilitation facilities and regional rehab units.
Jess has a passion for helping others and her long standing goal was always to with complex trauma and amputees at DMRC Stanford Hall. Having a flare for adapting S&C coaching to personnel with the most challenging injuries, Jess was always seen as one of the best ERI's within the military.
Jess has worked with some of the worlds leading technology within biomechanics labs and testing platforms including within the UK Special Forces space. She is now working with the elite of the military and continues to push for forward world leading rehabilitation and injury risk profiling to enhance others goals.
Jess has a passion for giving injured athletes the tools to progress onward and is qualified in both matwork and reformer Pilates. She has completed both courses with APPI which is the leading platform for Pilates rehabilitation. Jess is an incredible ERI who has been at the forefront of building resilience through identifying incorrect biomechanical movement patterns during screening and helping coaches create programs that ensure athletes reach their full potential.
